Frequently Asked Questions About My Presentations
- What do teachers need to do to prepare for a school visit? Depending upon the type of program format requested, students bring their creative writings or poems that they have written prior to the program. The writings can be written individually, in a group, or as an entire class. I create songs using the writings and original music that I sing with the students’ lyrics. There is no need to send me the words prior to my visit since I create the songs on the spot with student participation. Keep in mind that writings do not have to rhyme. The length can be four to eight lines or more. The writings can cover what is already part of the classroom curriculum or can follow a theme such as “Character Counts” or “Earth Day,” etc. My programs are very impromptu and ideal for audience participation!
- Is there an age limit for your programs? I work with all ages from early childhood to adults. I encourage all classes to attend my programs.
- What types of programs do you present? The great thing about my work is that I am flexible and able to focus on the best fit for your school or conference needs. Whether one day, a week or as a resource throughout your school year, I work to customize my program for your organization’s benefit. My program is not a music theory class. Do I use music? Yes, very much so but in conjunction with language arts, science, and mathematics to encourage students to write and read. Click HERE to see a sample list of programs I offer.
- How long are the sessions? The sessions usually average about 40 minutes with with six to eight sessions per day…again depending upon your group’s needs.
- Where do you set up for the programs? Since I have equipment to set up, the classes visit me in a multi-purpose room or auditorium. If I am presenting a school-wide convocation or family night then I set up in a room that accommodates the crowd.
