Randy Beard http://www.randybeard.com Singer, Songwriter, Educator, Motivational Speaker Tue, 15 May 2012 17:54:12 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 Courageous and Beautiful http://www.randybeard.com/courageous-and-beautiful/ http://www.randybeard.com/courageous-and-beautiful/#comments Tue, 15 May 2012 17:52:22 +0000 rbeard http://www.randybeard.com/?p=335 Visiting my site, I realized how incredibly fast the time has breezed by since my last posting about working with middle school students in southern Indiana.  Let me spend a few minutes telling you about my latest middle school experience last month.  I have had the privilege of working with middle school students attending Oak Park Middle School in Decatur, Alabama for at least the past five years.  I generally spend the day with 8th grade language arts classes, although other classes/grades stop in for a period or two throughout my visit.  This is what I know…these middle school students are courageous, sharing, and creative!  Their student writings reflect so much of what they are living or have dealt with in their young lives…love, family, loss, uncertainty, future.  I am honored to put music to their creative writings.  I am humbled by their trust and understanding; knowing that I never belittle or make fun of their work.  Their writings put to music for all to hear…courageous and beautiful!
